Shwe Wah Soap Factory ( SSO)

<font face="Myanmar3, Arial, Verdana"><span style="font-size: 13.3333px;">Shwe Wah Soap Factory is located in No.(4) ward, Bayintnaung road, Yangon, Myanmar. The factory produces carbolic soap cakes and bars from palm fatty derivatives (PFD). The soap produced are distributed across the country. The factory uses steam to melt and extract PFD from the barrels, at the digesters, cooking tanks, jacketed kettles and the calorifier. The steam is generated from the two natural gas-fired boilers. The management of Shwe Wah soap factory is eager and enthusiastic to implement energy system optimization measures at the factory. The factory participated in the demonstration and upscaling programme. Positive results have been achieved by implementing Energy System Optimization measures.

Energy Efficiency Measure : Steam System Optimization (SSO)

Energy Projects

  • The energy saving opportunities identified during site assessments are 1. to optimize combustion and reduce excess air at the two natural gas-fired boilers 2. Insulate claorifier tank and hot water circulating pipelines 3.Recover flash steam from digestor release to preheat water for the next batch of digestor charge 4.Recover the condensate from storage tank heating and converting calorifier heating to indirect heating 5. Install a common economizer for the two natural gas-fired boilers 6. Install a new FBC boiler with rice husk pallets firing replacing natural gas-fired boilers

Action Taken

The energy saving measures implemented are  1. Optimizing combustion and reduce excess air at the two natural gas-fired boilers 2. Insulating hot water circulating pipelines and boilers with 4" thick insulation material 3. Recovering flash steam from digestor release to preheat water for the next batch of digestor charge

Benefit

  • 1,349 MWh energy, 44.8 million MMK saved annually
